When I first built my Lego Lazuli Bunting, due to source material I built it in a different posture than my other birds. This meant I had to attach the tail at a ~45-degree angle in order for the bird to be able to stand and not fall on its face. The problem is, that didn’t look natural at all, and what’s more, the bird just looked kinda depressed, so I was never satisfied with it. So today, I rebuilt the tail to face straight down, and it completely transformed the bird. I think it looks 1000% better this way, but it needs something to perch on in order to look natural. So that’s what I spent my morning building, and here is the result :)
Also, the pottery turtle and bear are pieces of Native American art I bought from a Navajo woman who was selling her work by the side of the road, and I think they’re some of the most beautiful decorations I have. When I put my bird on the shelf, I thought they just complimented each other really nicely for whatever reason, so I left them in the photos.

I see you have decided to continue your birdwatching indoors this time and you didn’t invite Bluejay. Good.

This was more of a case of “fixing” a bird that I always thought came out weird... Seriously, its previous iteration with the angled tail was only good for bird watching posts because it could s tand without a perch and be placed wherever, but it always looked depressed to me. That’s why in the last bird watching post, the Lazuli Bunting was always the bird with existential angst.
But today, I impulsively decided that my Mack U-series model can wait, and I had to fix the tail and make the bird look right. Now that that’s off my chest, I can get back to work on the truck.

The Mack is a pretty big model. Is it up to the task of hauling around a Lazuli Bunting too depressed to move?
That reminds me of one of the worst books I ever read in school, Stone Fox . It was racist against American Indians and the main character’s grandfather basically says he has decided to lie in bed until he dies of starvation because he needs a small amount of money to pay off the farm. Oh, and the dog actually explodes at the end for no reason. Wow, that was a tangent.

This is great stuff here. Thanks , as always, for sharing.

Perhaps that book is the reason Lazuli Bunting was depressed....

It read like something a desperate lonely person would write. Pedro's Journal was still a worse story, but only for the associated curriculum.

That's what Audubon did. Shot the birds he painted.

Thank you :)
A S carlet T anager would be pretty neat, although I already have a red tanager in the form of a Hepatic Tanager, and I’m currently working on another big project that’ll use a lot of red... So maybe.
